voice of the Lord
your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His

heals you.” — Exodus 15:26
Jesus Healed
Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s
house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. So He
touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and
served them. When evening had come, they brought to Him many who
were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word,
and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which

our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.” — Matthew
8:14-17

His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he
was restored and saw everyone clearly. — Mark 8:23-25

people. Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they
brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various
diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed,
epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. Great multitudes
followed Him—from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem,
Judea, and beyond the Jordan. — Matthew 4:23-25
Then as He entered a certain village,
there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And

went, they were cleansed. — Luke 17:12-14
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching
in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the
people. Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they
brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various
diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed,

Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him,
kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You

out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am
willing; be cleansed.” As soon as He had spoken, immediately the
leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. And He strictly warned
him and sent him away at once, and said to him, “See that you
say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the
priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses
commanded, as a testimony to them.” However, he went out and
began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter, so
that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was
outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every
direction. — Mark 1:40-45

you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick
there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to
you.’ — Luke 10:8-9
Now Peter and John went up together to the
temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a
certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they
laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful,
to ask alms from those who entered the temple; who, seeing Peter
and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. And fixing
his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” So he gave
them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do
have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise
up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted
him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received
strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the
temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. — Acts
3:1-8
Now as the lame man who was healed held on
to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the
porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. So when Peter
saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why
do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though
by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God
of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified
His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the
presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.
But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a
murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of life,
whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. And
His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong,
whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through
Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you
all. — Acts 3:11-16
so that they brought the sick out into the
streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least

And it happened that the father of Publius
lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and
prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. So when

also came and were healed. — Acts 28:8-9
And when He had called His twelve
disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean
spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and
all kinds of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are
these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his
brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector;
James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname
was Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananite, and Judas Iscariot, who also
betrayed Him. These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them,
saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not
enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep
of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The
kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the
lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have
received, freely give. — Matthew 10:1-8
We Are to Heal
And He said to them, “Go into all the world
and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is
baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be
condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My
name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new
tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything
deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on
the sick, and they will recover.” So then, after the Lord had
spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at
the right hand of God. And they went out and preached
everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the
word through the accompanying signs. Amen. — Mark 16:15-20

the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely
give. — Matthew 10:8
And God has appointed these in the church:
first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that

varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets?
Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do
all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all
interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show
you a more excellent way. — 1 Corinthians 12:28-31

Healing in the Atonement of Jesus
Surely He has borne our griefs And carried
our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and
afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our
peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. —

prophet, saying: — Matthew 12:14-17

Hindrances to Healing
Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary,
and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His
sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus
said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own
country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Now He
could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on
a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled
because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a
circuit, teaching. — Mark 6:3-6

Now He was teaching in one of the
synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had
a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and
could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her,
He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you
are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on
her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation,
because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the
crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore
come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” The
Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one
of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and
lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being
a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for
eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” — Luke
13:10-16
Various Aspects of Healing
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man
who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying,
“Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born
blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents
sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. —

“Is this not the fast that I have
chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy
burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every
yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And
that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you
see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from
your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the
morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your
righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the
Lord shall be your
rear guard. Then you shall call, and the
Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take
away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and
speaking wickedness, If you extend your soul to the
hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall
dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the
noonday. The Lord
will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. — Isaiah
58:6-11

His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

spirits. And they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to
touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them
all. — Luke 6:17-19
