Jessie is the “sugar and spice,” sweetening the partnership with
gentle strength, compassion, organization, and great work
ethics! Together they’re the perfect lead for a caffeinated
group of teens and teen workers!
Randy
grew up as a streetwise kid in Houston. A life filled with drugs
and violence and crime, fear and loneliness and childhood
insomnia – it was a wild ride – with a group of wild friends!
One of
the most significant moments of life for Randy came when he was
just sixteen years old. He needed a job and one of his friends
got him hired at the place where he worked, Chick-fil-A, a
Christian based company!
The
people there impressed Randy immediately. They cared about him,
cared about what happened to him, cared about what he did, they
accepted him just like he was! But he still had his “boys.” A
storm was coming.
One day
one of the locals came at him to fight. Randy pulled a gun from
his pocket and put the barrel on the guys forehead. Frozen in
his tracks the guy said, “You won’t pull the trigger.” Randy
did! This is where his whole life changed. The gun didn’t fire.
The guy took off running. Randy laughed. “Stupid gun doesn’t
even work.” He pointed it at the ground, pulled the trigger
again and “POW!!!” The shot rang out. It was then he decided his
life was going the wrong direction. He knew he was headed for
jail or the grave.
He
started spending more time with his new crew, especially with a
guy named James. James was a devout Christian. He worked on
Randy for three years. And then there was Jessica… a girl who
gave him the love and acceptance he had been looking for his
whole life. On August 5, 1995 Randy became a street-fighter for
Christ!
Finding a
church was difficult at first! But life was coming together now.
The Chick-fil-A management asked if he would take the Lake
Jackson store, and it felt right. It would give him the
opportunity to impact other people’s lives with the Chick-fil-A
philosophy. He said “yes” and moved his family.
While
working in Lake Jackson, Randy met a guy named Elton. Elton
invited him to Life Church. The people at Life church gave him
more love and acceptance. He began working with teens and felt
God calling him to full time ministry. It was a strong and clear
call to show teenagers that there is a better way to live. His
goal? To pastor a group of young people who change their world
for good!
Today
Randy and Jessica, along with their children Arizona and Isaiah
live in Angleton and both are working full time in ministry to
young people… And that’s just the beginning of the story!
