Abuse or Harassment
Romans 12:17-21 — Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard
for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as
much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do
not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath;
for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”
says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing
you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome
by evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Peter 2:13-23 — Therefore submit yourselves to every
ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as
supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for
the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those
who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you
may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— as free, yet
not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of
God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God.
Honor the king. Servants, be submissive to your
masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also
to the harsh. For this is commendable, if because of
conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.
For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your
faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer,
if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for
us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
“Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who,
when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered,
He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who
judges righteously;
Matthew 5:38-48 — “You have heard that it was said,
‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you
not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your
right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue
you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak
also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from
you do not turn away. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You
shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to
you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to
those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you
and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in
heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good,
and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love
those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax
collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only,
what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax
collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your
Father in heaven is perfect.
Romans 13:1-7 — Let every soul be subject to the
governing authorities. For there is no authority except from
God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of
God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For
rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want
to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will
have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for
good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the
sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to
execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you
must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for
conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for
they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very
thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes
are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor
to whom honor.
1 Peter 3:8-9 — Finally, all of you be of one
mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be
tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil
or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing
that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
