Great Tribulation
Matthew 24:15-28 — “Therefore when you see the
‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the
prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him
understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the
mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take
anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not
go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant
and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that
your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then
there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the
beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved;
but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. “Then if
anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or
‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false
prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive,
if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand.
“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do
not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’
do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the
east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son
of Man be. For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be
gathered together.
Revelation 7:9-14 — After these things I looked, and
behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all
nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the
throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm
branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice,
saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the
throne, and to the Lamb!” All the angels stood around the throne
and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their
faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: “Amen!
Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power
and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” Then
one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed
in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to
him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who
come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and
made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Daniel 11:31-39 — And forces shall be mustered by him,
and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall
take away the daily sacrifices, and place there
the abomination of desolation. Those who do wickedly against the
covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know
their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
And those of the people who understand shall instruct many; yet
for many days they shall fall by sword and flame, by
captivity and plundering. Now when they fall, they shall be
aided with a little help; but many shall join with them by
intrigue. And some of those of understanding shall fall,
to refine them, purify them, and make them white,
until the time of the end; because it is still for
the appointed time. “Then the king shall do according to his own
will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall
speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper
till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been
determined shall be done. He shall regard neither the God of his
fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he
shall exalt himself above them all. But in their place he
shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did
not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious
stones and pleasant things. Thus he shall act against the
strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall
acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall
cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 — Let no one deceive you by any
means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away
comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of
perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is
called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the
temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
Revelation 13 — Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And
I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and
ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a
blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard,
his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like
the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne,
and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as if it
had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And
all the world marveled and followed the beast. So they worshiped
the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped
the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to
make war with him?” And he was given a mouth speaking great
things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue
for forty-two months. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy
against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those
who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the
saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over
every tribe, tongue, and nation. All who dwell on the earth will
worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of
Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If
anyone has an ear, let him hear. He who leads into captivity
shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be
killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the
saints. Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and
he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. And he
exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence,
and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the
first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. He performs great
signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the
earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on
the earth— by those signs which he was granted to do in the
sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make
an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He
was granted power to give breath to the image of the
beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause
as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be
killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free
and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their
foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has
the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the
number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number
is 666.
