Temptation
James 1:12-16 — Blessed is the man who endures
temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the
crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for
God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires
and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to
sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not
be deceived, my beloved brethren.
Hebrews 4:15-16 — For we do not have a High Priest who
cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points
tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us
therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
1 Timothy 6:6-12 — Now godliness with contentment is
great gain. For we brought nothing into this world,
and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And
having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But
those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men
in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of
all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the
faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with
many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and
pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience,
gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal
life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good
confession in the presence of many witnesses.
2 Timothy 2:22 — Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue
righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the
Lord out of a pure heart.
Ephesians 6:12-18 — For we do not wrestle against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual
hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore
take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand
therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on
the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with
the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the
shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying
always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being
watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for
all the saints—
1 Corinthians 10:12-13 — Therefore let him who thinks he
stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you
except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who
will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but
with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you
may be able to bear it.
